On the afternoon of September 22, 2025, Professor Zhou Jianshe, Chairman of the China Language Intelligence Research Center of the National Language Commission and former vice president of Capital Normal University, along with a team of four, visited UESTC. The aim was to implement the spirit of The 2024-2035 master plan on building China into a leading country in education and promote the comprehensive reform pilot work of the three-year action plan for building an education power.

At the beginning of the research, Professor Shen Xiaorong, Executive Director of the AI-HSS at UESTC, presented an appointment letter to Professor Zhou Jianshe on behalf of the university.

At the symposium, Professor Hu Jiehui, Professor of the School of Foreign Languages, first introduced the research situation of our university in the field of language intelligence. We have established interdisciplinary teams covering linguistics, computer science, biomedical engineering and other fields, conducting systematic research in areas such as language cognition, intelligent assessment and multimodal corpus processing.

Chairman Zhou highlighted the pilot construction project of the "New National Corpus Demonstration Database", which was entrusted by the Ministry of Education and led by Capital Normal University (National Language Commission's Research Center for Chinese Language Intelligence). This project is dedicated to building a new type of language resource platform that integrates new qualities, new sciences, new technologies and new contents, and focuses on solving key issues such as standards and norms, technical paths and collaborative mechanisms in the construction of language resources.

Chairman Zhou pointed out that UESTC has significant advantages in the cross-disciplinary research of engineering sciences such as electronic information and humanities and social sciences, especially in the fields of language cognitive mechanisms, brain-computer interfaces, and intelligent information processing, where it has a solid foundation. In the future, it can play an important role in the construction of new corpora.

To further promote cooperation, both sides plan to establish a regular communication mechanism and intend to carry out substantive cooperation in multiple fields such as language resource construction, intelligent teaching application and talent cultivation, jointly advancing the research and development of language intelligence technology to provide support for the construction of an education power.
