内容简介:
Genomic research and its applications hold revolutionary potential, promising transformative advancements in biomedicine and agriculture. However, this rapid progress introduces a host of complex ethical and legal challenges. This lecture provides a comprehensive exploration of the field, beginning with foundational ethical and legal issues inherent to genomic research and application. It then examines how these challenges are being reshaped by the new development of AI-enabled genomic science, focusing on pivotal issues including safety protocols, updated ethical frameworks, the complexities of international collaboration, and the implications of direct-to-consumer marketing models. Through case studies on gene-editing therapies and precision fermentation, it will scrutinize these legal and ethical challenges in practice. The goal of the lecture is not only to highlight these pressing issues but also to stimulate dialogue on creating effective regulatory frameworks that maximize the benefits of genomic innovation while minimizing its risks.
