Tan Jinsong is currently the Newmont Chair Professor in Corporate Strategy at the Schulich School of Business, York University (Canada), and a tenured professor of management. He was the only Fulbright Distinguished Professor in Economics and Management from the United States to teach in China for one year. His primary teaching and research areas include entrepreneurship and innovation, strategic management, and corporate social responsibility. He has published dozens of articles in top-tier international academic journals, including the Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, and the Journal of International Business Studies, as well as over ten articles in Management World and Journal of Management Sciences. He has led five key projects and general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and seven research projects supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Professor Tan has served as editor-in-chief, associate editor, editorial board member, or reviewer for more than ten leading international academic journals. Eight of his case studies have been included in the Harvard Case Library. He has provided consulting and executive training services for government agencies in China, the United States, and Canada, as well as for major companies in China, the U.S., Canada, Japan, South Korea, and India. He has also advised U.S. federal senators and representatives on multiple occasions regarding Sino-U.S. relations. The doctoral students he has mentored now hold teaching positions at top universities in China, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
