On July 2, the 9th forum featured Professor Guillaume Thierry from Bangor University, UK, speaking on “The Semantic Multiverse: Embodiment and Linguistic Relativity in the Human Brain.” Professor Gao Shan with the School of Foreign Languages moderated the forum.

The forum discussed neuroscientific evidence linking language to perception, emotion, and conceptual thinking, challenging modular views of language. Professor Thierry proposed a “semantic multiverse” where the brain constructs meaning through coexisting embodied frameworks shaped by language.
