On September 12, AI-HSS hosted the 11th “Humanities × Technology” Thinkers’ Forum. This forum, themed “High-Level Academic Paper Publication: My Journey of Exploration”, featured Professor Tan Jinsong, the Neumont Chair in Enterprise Strategy and a tenured professor of management at the Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada, as the distinguished guest speaker. Professor Shao Yunfei from the School of Economics and Management served as the moderator.

Professor Shao began by expressing a warm welcome and gratitude to Professor Tan for his academic presentation and provided a brief introduction to Professor Tan’s academic research background and the forum’s theme.

Professor Tan shared insights on publishing in high-level academic journals, drawing from his personal experiences. He covered topics such as “Design and Execution of High-Quality Research”, “Selection of Paper Types and Target Audiences”, and “Submission Strategies for Target Journals”. He emphasized that citation counts are not always a perfect measure of a research paper’s quality, noting that top-tier journals value authors’ “unique contributions” over mere technical perfection. He also highlighted the importance of demonstrating the ability to engage in theoretical dialogue.

During the Q&A session, faculty and students actively participated. Professor Tan patiently addressed questions from various perspectives, encouraging everyone to focus on truly valuable scientific questions, strengthen their foundational training in classical theories and methods, and refine their papers to meet high standards.
